The Senior Technical Analyst engages directly with IT leadership, development teams, technical delivery teams, other enterprise architects, resource managers, operations support teams, business partners, and vendors to ensure the appropriate technical specifications for IT systems are developed and utilized.  Technical specifications include data field level and processing definitions both for applications as well as for moving data between them.  This individual is a great communicator and a key asset in both the software development lifecycle as well as the operations production support lifecycle. This requires a keen sense of systems and business requirements across the entire IT solutions portfolio. The Senior Technical Analyst ensures technical requirements are socialized and is responsible for ensuring engineers and testers understand technical specifications clearly enough to be able to efficiently develop and test software deliverables.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads necessary analysis and design tasks related to the development of technical specifications for applications and data. Develops/designs integrated solutions within a broad technical context.
  • Understands, participates in, advocates, and supports the enterprise’s IT roadmap and business strategies.
  • Advocates for technical designs that are pragmatic and practical, with an optimal balance of meeting business requirements in both the short and long term.  Avoids tech debt/throwaway whenever possible but recognizes the need for short term flexibility.
  • Partners with engineers, business partners, and product owners to lead conversations at initiation of projects to help engineering teams understand technical rules and processing nuances before coding begins, follows-through during the entire development process to support elaboration and changes in an agile environment. 
  • Develops prototypes as needed to test a concept or demonstrate an idea.
  • Queries and analyzes data to support new development and manage incidents.  Solves highly technical and complex incidents/ business problems and/or leads analysis efforts to resolve incidents.  Not only resolves problems as an individual contributor, but helps others resolve problems by providing real time coaching, advice and feedback.
  • Seeks to automate and continuously improve systems wherever possible.

Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (required or preferred):

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related focus
  • Years of Related Experience:  4-8+ years of experience in IT.
  • Required Skills & Abilities:  Strong working knowledge of IT application and infrastructure landscape.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project.  Strong critical thinking and analytics experience.
  • Detail oriented, thinks through and addresses exception scenarios
  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder
  • Ability to communicate promptly and accurately via computer, telephone, or similar device with or without assistive technology.
  • Ability to perform sedentary
