The Senior Analytics Engineer is responsible for contributing to the work product of the Analytics Engineering agile team, solving technical problems and designing technical solutions within a project with little guidance or supervision and helping to ensure that work product for the entire team is of high quality, adheres to the defined architecture best practices of the company, and that the deliverables meet the customer and business objectives of a given project. The Senior Analytics Engineer will help to break the proposed implementation into chunks of work that can be executed with the other software engineers on the agile team and also execute work with speed and quality and support the team to timely resolve complex issues to help maximize the productivity of the team. The Senior Analytics Engineer will also set an example, act as a subject-matter expert, and provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers to ensure the success and high productivity of the team and to continuously enhance the team’s development processes. Finally, the Senior Analytics Engineer will identify and provide solutions for issues that stand in the way of continuous productivity.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute valuable work product as an analytics/software engineer on an agile development team, solving complex and highly technical problems with little guidance or supervision. Serve as a subject-matter expert and engineering resource for other software engineers on the team. Independently research new technologies and prepare business and technical justifications for their inclusion. Develops/designs integrated solutions within a broad technical context.
  • Partner with team members and Enterprise/Technical Architects to design and develop solutions and create new technical design patterns with minimal guidance from others. Help to define their functional area’s technical strategy, translate epics and user stories into actionable items for the team, and then make sure those stories align with the overall technical strategy. Work closely with the product owner or business liaison to understand all functional requirements and help to ensure that the work product of the team meets the customer and business objectives.
  • Monitor the work product of all software engineers on the agile team to ensure quality, velocity, and adherence to architectural designs and the software engineering standards of the company through code reviews, unit testing, and the peer review process. This will include documentation of design, development, integration/test and deployment activities, as well reviewing the documentation of others. Lead technical design spikes and brainstorming sessions to investigate technically complex issues, identify optimal solutions, and then break these solutions into tasks that can be executed upon by the software engineers. Reviews documents of others; looks to automate processes and create efficiencies.
  • Provide support and maintenance for complicated incidents and integrated solutions and troubleshoot complex problems independently. Surface issues on the project that impede the progress of the team – solving those issues that are within your control and driving other team members (such as the program manager, product owner, enterprise architect or QA lead) to solve any remaining issues.
  • Coordinate with other David’s Bridal teams and their leaders, as well as external technology providers, to coordinate activities and ensure the delivery of their work product meets the functional and quality requirements of the company. Contribute to projects as a team member, lead medium-sized projects within the development cycle, and participate in all aspects of the agile process.
  • Serve as an advocate of the agile development team – together with the technical development lead, program manager, QA lead, architect and product owner – helping to ensure a high functioning and cohesive team. Foster an environment of mutual respect, accountability and excellence, and work with other team members to resolve conflicts within the team in a speedy, productive and professional manner.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance to help each software engineer on the team contribute to the best of their abilities. Monitor the development and trouble-shooting processes for where continuous improvement and automation can increase efficiency. After resolving highly technical issues, looks to educate others to solve the issues independently in the future



  • BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related degree.

Years of Related Experience:

  • 7+ years in the development and design of data pipelines for large, heterogeneous datasets.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Good understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns.
  • Big Data Technologies and Concepts.
  • RDBMS and NoSql Databases including data cloud solutions such as Snowflake.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL.
  • Development experience in AWS (Python, Terraform, Lambda, SQS/SNS, EC2, Athena).
  • Source Code Control Practices.
  • RESTful API concepts.
  • Good understanding of agile development practices.
  • Expert understanding of modern software engineering practices, design patterns and object-oriented technologies.
  • Experience with Git, bitbucket, continuous integration and build tools (i.e. Ansible, Docker, Quickbuild, Jenkins)
  • Project and code management in Jira.
  • Experience working in a variety of development methodologies including Agile / SCRUM or other iterative methodologies

Preferred experience but not required:

  • Data discovery and BI software tools (e.g. Microstrategy, PowerBI).
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Experience building data transformations using dbt (Data Build Tool).
